Album #6 from Go Ahead Punk: ‘Two Heads Better’ Is Pouring It On Twice as Nice
I can’t believe it’s my sixth album (technically seventh if you count my 4-song Christmas EP), and I am nearing 100 songs just for this project.
This is the culmination of a surge of writing toward the end of 2025. It’s an entirely new level of writing and may very well be that this work splits off into its own band.
It was largely because I decided to resume what I had stopped doing many years, even decades ago, which was not only listening to artists who inspired me in their songwriting, producing and performing, but going to live shows of the most influential. What happened was that back in 2023, a major amphitheater opened not 2 blocks from a two-thousand-seat concert hall, both walking distance from my apartment and a stone’s throw from my studio.
Among the artists I saw in late 2025 were the Wallflowers, Mayday Parade and All Time Low, along with (earlier that summer) Our Lady Peace, Live and Collective Soul. I also saw another favorite of mine, “Gaslight Anthem” who opened a Counting Crows show I saw, a band I hadn’t seen in 30 years since first seeing them at the Chance Theater in Poughkeepsie NY, (where the likes of David Bowie and the Police cut their teeth on the NY club scene) and when “Mr Jones” had only just started getting radio play.
And since 2022, I saw (twice) my long-time and all-time, foremost songwriting influence, Del Amitri, having never seen them since discovering them 30 years earlier (once on a solo show and once opening for none other than Barenaked Ladies! who are very inspiring as the most brilliant songwriters they are)
The 2025 creative outpour all started with “Love at First Fight” on the heels of having seen Wallflowers and All Time Low only weeks prior, feeling extra inspired, and it flowed from there with “Alyssa With an ‘E’” and the most influential, pop-culture-reference-laced, “We Were On a Break!” The roll continued with “Best of Luck But I Wish It Was Me“, culminating at Christmas with “Your HB” and kicking off New Year’s Day with “You’re #1, But We Were Always #2“, even including a “lost song” from 2012 I had forgotten, “Deserve You“, and it continues from there.
And so, with great pride, I present the album “Two Heads Better“, a work in progress with more songs in production.
