Oohs, Ahs and Nah Nah Nahs

Album #5: The Original Album Title Returns With the ‘Ooh-est, Ah-est’ Songs Yet!

Sometimes a little break and review of your past work thrusts you into the future. Here is a natural progression to a new level of songwriting for me that started with the idea of the concept of this album. “It’s Showtime, Baby” is not just a catchphrase I’ve picked up and used over the years, but a complete state of mind!

Spoof of My Life

I thought I had quite a story,
not so much filled with guts and glory,
but semi-rich with substance
and less shallow than main stream,
Maybe not as deep as a hundred fathoms,
and people don’t know me from Adam,
but my doppleganging face ain’t really
what it’s come to mean
It’s not funny as it seems

It’s just so uncool
and such a fucked up thing to do
I hope my sense of humor’s
ready to survive
The writers took my tale
and convinced me it’s gone stale
and turned my life-long feature
into comedy
in a spoof of my life
It’s a spoof of my life!

My life’s gone into syndication,
the laughingstock of a streaming nation,
all over TikTok, YouTube
and I think Netflix too
Maybe Jagger gets to have his satisfaction,
but, I get this small laughing fraction
of the latest punchline
getting all the rave reviews
even though there’s bigger news

I won’t get an Emmy nomination,
but come up in your feed
and in your rotation
of suggested comedies
based on what makes you laugh
They’re running me on
every frickin’ TV station
so please spare me your congratulations,
fame’s engravings carved on me
like some timeless epitaph,
or my phony autograph

It’s just so uncool
and such a fucked up thing to do
I hope my sense of humor’s
ready to survive
The writers took my tale
and convinced me it’s gone stale
and turned my life-long feature
into comedy
in a spoof of my life
It’s just so uncool
and such a fucked up thing to do
I hope my sense of humor’s
ready to survive
The writers took my tale
and convinced me it’s gone stale
and turned my life-long feature
into comedy
in a spoof of my life
Whoah-oh, whoah-oh,
it’s a spoof of my life
Whoah-oh, yeah, yeah,
It’s a spoof of my life!

Drink In You

There I was at my desk not thinking
what would happen next,
just drinking coffee I’ve been ignoring,
contemplating that it’s all so boring
Little did I know that you are
in queue waiting below my radar
shining bright in the sky
like the full moon will do tonight
When I wake up from your calling
static, outside my head
and I’m falling

You’re my cup of tea
Scoop you up and steep
the feeling that I get
when I drink in you
Stir you with a spoon,
sipping by your moon,
as you light up the room,
while I drink in you
while I drink in you

Unexpectedly you were talking
on my screen and I was gawking
at your smiling face
focused like a satellite orbiting your space
After all these years there you are,
finally clear and up on my radar,
in a universe expanding,
like my own rocket and lunar landing
Instantly hearing your calling
static, outside my head
and I’m falling

You’re my cup of tea
Scoop you up and steep
the feeling that I get
when I drink in you
Stir you with a spoon,
sipping by your moon,
as you light up the room,
while I drink in you
while I drink in you

Nah-nah-nah
nah-nah-nah-nah-nah
nah-nah-nah-nah-nah
nah-nah-nah-nah
nah-nah-nah
Nah-nah-nah
nah-nah-nah
nah-nah-nah-nah-nah
nah-nah-nah-nah
nah-nah-nah
Nah-nah-nah
nah-nah-nah
nah-nah-nah-nah-nah
nah-nah-nah-nah
nah-nah-nah

You’re my cup of tea
Scoop you up and steep
the feeling that I get
when I drink in you
Stir you with a spoon,
sipping by your moon,
as you light up the room,
while I drink in you
while I drink in you
you…
while I drink in you
drink in you

Your Taste In Music Is the Sexiest Thing About You

Phonically headphones
integrity and tone
soothe me to the bone
but listening alone to you,
spinning what you do,
Mix me all night long
don’t see nothin’ wrong
Win me with each song you play
I’m in awe

The sexiest thing about you
is your taste in music
and your never ending fade
I’m falling head over heels
spinning ‘round you
Wear your taste in music
like an evening gown of sound
on vintage vinyl that I found
collecting you

Vintage vinyl vibes
in stereo hi-fi
make my insides cry
but outside I’m feeling too
those perfect fades you do
Mix me all night long
don’t see nothin’ wrong
win me with each song you play
I’m in awe

The sexiest thing about you
is your taste in music
and your never ending fade
I’m falling head over heels
spinning ‘round you
Wear your taste in music
like an evening gown of sound
on vintage vinyl that I found…

Sonically harmonic
left and right,
stereophonic
Got me pining so
melodically for you…

The sexiest thing about you
is your taste in music
and your never ending fade
I’m falling head over heels
spinning ‘round you
Wear your taste in music
like an evening gown of sound
on vintage vinyl that I found
collecting you
The sexiest thing about you
evening gown of sound
vintage vinyl that I found
collecting you

(Back When It Was Cool to) Love the US of A

Back in the day,
when the artists from
USA for Africa
came together
in sunny LA,
we thought nothing
of joining them in song,
getting the nation
to sing along,
without any effort
or strife at all

When parades were long,
flags flying high,
come Independence Day,
Where purple mountains’ majesty
reflects our saving grace,
All filled up with pride inside
wish you knew me back in the day
back when it was cool
to love the US of A

From land of the free,
to “I want my MTV”
to, “Please, tear down this wall,
if it’s peace you seek”
we thought nothing
of joining up our hands,
from sea to sea,
across this land,
without any effort
or strife at all

When parades were long,
flags flying high,
come Independence Day,
Where purple mountains’ majesty
reflects our saving grace,
All filled up with pride inside
wish you knew me back in the day
back when it was cool
to love the US of A
When parades were long,
flags flying high,
come Independence Day,
Where purple mountains’ majesty
reflects our saving grace,
All filled up with pride inside
wish you knew me back in the day
back when it was cool
to love the US of A
it was so cool
to love the US of A
of A
of A
of A

Ride of Our Lives

I know that it’s a “school night”,
or a work night so to speak
but I think we should go somewhere,
find a better place to be
Who cares if alarm clocks
will start screaming out our names
in just a few hours?
Tell your boss I’ll take the blame
because

I’ll steal the keys to the blimp
and I’ll take you for a ride
and we can watch the Yankee game
from the comfort of the sky
Don’t fret, we can afford it ‘cause
it’s all on Good Year’s dime
Trust, it pays off in the end
when we’re taking the
ride of our lives
Baby, let’s just fly tonight,
hovering like stars so bright,
people pointing at the sight of us
on the ride of our lives

A trip to the sun, the moon,
the stars or just the mall
When you’re right there with me
my lead foot just can’t hold back at all
I’m not prone to those felonies
that so many perpetrate,
but I’d hotwire a car in a jiff
for a joyride tribute to our fate
so

I’ll steal the keys to the blimp
and I’ll take you for a ride
and we can watch the Yankee game
from the comfort of the sky
Don’t fret, we can afford it ‘cause
it’s all on Good Year’s dime
Trust, it pays off in the end
when we’re taking the
ride of our lives
Baby, let’s just fly tonight,
hovering like stars so bright,
people pointing at the sight of us…

I’ll steal the keys to the blimp
and I’ll take you for a ride
and we can watch the Yankee game
from the comfort of the sky
Don’t fret, we can afford it ‘cause

Adriatic Sea

It started with
a smile in a cafe
elated he came
all this way
across this ocean
that separates
where all these years
they made their way
Afternoon espresso
is all he needed
but soon after, how she
treated him to sweets
from across the sea

Albanian girl
signals Italian boy
that he’s making her smile,
and he’s so overjoyed
there’s an ocean
of possibility across
the Adriatic Sea

There’s only
geography to separate
and to keep them,
from seeing straight
across that narrow ocean
that separates, them from
crossing over, intermediate
Just when distance seemed to
come in between them,
ever after how she
treated him to sweets
from across the sea

Albanian girl
signals Italian boy
that he’s making her smile,
and he’s so overjoyed
there’s an ocean
of possibility across
the Adriatic Sea
the Adriatic Sea

Albanian girl
signals Italian boy
that he’s making her smile,
and he’s so overjoyed
there’s an ocean
of possibility across
the Adriatic Sea
the Adriatic Sea
the Adriatic Sea
