9 Ways From Sunday (VIPs Only Demo Preview)

Album #7 from Go Ahead Punk Is Tearing It Up ‘9 Ways From Sunday’!

A super productive month from the end of November 2025 to New Year’s Day 2026 yielded an entire album of material (Two Heads Better) during one of the most productive periods of my songwriting and producing career. With 6 new songs written, two songs repurposed, rearranged, moved and reproduced from other albums, as well as a “lost track”, one I had forgotten all about from more than a decade ago, and I had an entirely new album demo done in 30 days!

With no room left on the 9-song, 38-minute-long “Two Heads Better” album, a natural spillover occurred and here we are, writing and producing another high volume of songs, literally, 9 ways from Sunday!

It started with a song title idea I had, “A Heyday of Heydays” is about the times in your life that were not only heydays but a significant time of life, on which you don’t anticipate will be so when going through it. Followed up by a song that I wrote way back in 2003 (a very productive songwriting year for me), one of 4 “hits” I wrote that year with extreme hooks in them, the song “Show” represents a work I have spent more than 20 years and several different versions and iterations of.

A Heyday of Heydays

Here’s the thing about them heydays,
when they’re starting from the gun,
Oh, nobody sees them coming,
only recount them when they’re done
Fear’s gonna bring me all my maydays,
alarmed about them,
every single one
But, in the end, my future heyday
blew the past to kingdom come
And, no, you’re not eccentric
And, no, I’m not delusional
Our circles are concentric,
and there is no confusion, oh

A heyday of heydays
you gave me
Let me count
the ways it saved me
My mind often replays,
can’t blame me
From this side of always,
a heyday of heydays!

30 years out from Nantucket,
that ferry ride was all we’d need
Shivering from wind, but fuck it
Hyannis got us to concede
Each iteration, you’d express it loudly
That hometown bar
heard every single one
“What’s WRONG with you?”
the question you asked me,
after, just for fun!
And it wasn’t dependent,
on anything unusual
Connected with intention,
in a catalytic fusion, oh

A heyday of heydays
you gave me
Let me count
the ways it saved me
My mind often replays,
can’t blame me
From this side of always,
a heyday of heydays!

And when you descended,
unexpected, down the stairs
leather jacket, boots
and Marlboro Reds
I was yours right then and there
Didn’t dare leave it open-ended,
not before you’d leave that room,
because in our hearts and heads
we knew that you were mine, too

A heyday of heydays!
A heyday of heydays!

And we had both consented
Instant friendship, not intrusion, no
An escape for us just rested
on going where we knew we’d go
And we both knew we’d make it so!

A heyday of heydays
you gave me
Let me count
the ways it saved me
My mind often replays,
can’t blame me
From this side of always,
a heyday of
A heyday of heydays
you gave me
Let me count
the ways it saved me
My mind often replays,
can’t blame me
From this side of always,
a heyday of heydays!

Show

How did this get so dramatic
in the first place?
Needed your space!
It was so anticlimactic
You went your way
and left no trace
But now you show up
back on the scene,
and I don’t even know
what it means
I’m over you,
and how you

Show up unannounced just to
show me you’ve changed, but you
show your true self
Shows up in the way that you
show up on the scene and you
show me how mean
you can be to me, oh
You put on quite a show

Didn’t have to wait
for an ending
You made your break,
and in your wake,
the wasted time
I’ve been spending
all for your sake
What a mistake
But, now you’re here
and making a scene,
acting out some
movie you’d seen
I’m over you,
and how you

Show up unannounced just to
show me you’ve changed, but you
show your true self
Shows up in the way that you
show up on the scene and you
show me how mean
you can be to me, oh
You put on quite a show

I was there after
you had gone,
but you didn’t show
until I moved on
And now I know how
it was all a show!

And, I don’t think
I owe you a thing
for all the sordid
memories you bring
I’m over you,
and how you

Show up unannounced just to
show me you’ve changed, but you
show your true self
Shows up in the way that you
show up on the scene and you
show me how mean
you can be to me, oh
You put on quite a

Show up unannounced just to
show me you’ve changed, but you
show your true self
Shows up in the way that you
show up on the scene and you
show me how mean
you can be to me, oh
You put on quite a show

You put on quite a show
