Album #5: The Original Album Title Returns With the ‘Ooh-est, Ah-est’ Songs Yet!

Sometimes, a little break and review of your past work thrusts you into the future. Here is a natural progression to a new level of songwriting for me that started with the idea of the concept of album #4 “It’s Showtime, Baby” and stepped it up yet again to higher octane, jacked up voltage and all the “nah-nah-nah’s energy I could muster. And, though Nah Nah Nah’s weren’t as present as previous albums, the spirit of them is woven throughout.

From “Spoof of My Life” (written on my iPad in Garage Band originally), which continued the sarcastic tongue-in-cheek rationale and sentiment in the previous couple of albums, to “Drink In You,” which got me into new levels of counterpoint, harmony, melody and hook.

Then there was the song “Your Taste In Music Is the Sexiest Thing About You,” which came to me after realizing that certain aspects of personality can be just as attractive as looks, followed by “Be Mine, Billie,” a song I wrote just for fun as I did, “The Adriatic Sea,” with a story I couldn’t resist but tell. Some stories just tell themselves from lyric one that you cleverly contrive. These were no exception.

Finally, I had wanted for more than 20 years to write some sort of patriotic song and started way back in the summer of ’03 (one of my most productive songwriting summers of all time) with a song called “We Believe” (still in my archives of songs I haven’t yet used) and what evolded to be “(Back When It Was Cool to) Love the US of A,” reflective and remeniscent of the sentiment of the decades during which I grew up and finally cxame of age, in a time before mass media proliferation and when people shared their country in common and in unity.

And it all came full circle and back around to my original idea for a title, and, am I glad I waited!!!!! The title was finally ready for its debut. It just felt right.

And so, it is with much personal sentiment and a sense of wanting to share that I proudly put forth this album demo.
